I’m Katherine Layne~

I’m an organic, holistic hairstylist at The Hightide Salon & Suites in Raleigh, North Carolina. I take a holistic approach to hair color, hair health, and scalp care, creating a space where you feel seen, heard, and completely at ease. Every service is designed to be a moment of self-care, so you can leave feeling refreshed, recharged, and empowered.

I specialize in all things color—from seamless low maintenance blonding and dimensional lived-in color to vivids. I also offer lived-in cutting, meaning your haircut will wear beautifully between appointments, no matter how you style it. Your hair should work with your lifestyle, not against it.

Your time in my chair is a collaboration. I take my consultations seriously because I want to truly understand your hair, your routine, and what makes you feel confident. I know how hard it can be to carve out time for yourself, which is why I create color that grows out seamlessly and routines that make your hair effortless to maintain. My focus is always on scalp health, hair integrity, and using powerful, botanically driven products—because what we put on our hair and scalp matters.

I have ADHD, which allows me to go ALL IN on my passions—especially when it comes to hair. It helps me focus deeply on perfecting my craft and giving each guest a thorough, personalized experience. I know how overwhelming life can get, and I want your time in my chair to feel like a reset—a chance to relax, feel taken care of, and walk away feeling more like yourself.

I also know firsthand how much hair health impacts confidence. In my teens, I lost a lot of hair due to poor health and medications for my Ulcerative Colitis. Through clean, scalp-supportive hair care, I’ve not only restored my own hair but also found the best ways to help others do the same. When I’m not behind the chair, you can usually find me spending time with my husband, Mitchell, and our tabby cat, Otto. I love baking—especially cookies, brownies, cakes, and muffins, so if you have a favorite recipe, I’d love to hear it! I’m also a graphic designer and have a deep passion for learning Japanese, something I started back in high school. And if you’re a fellow video game lover, let’s chat—I always have recommendations.
